Charleston, WV -
The Manahan Group, working closely with Capitol Market and several other sponsors, helped to raise more than $7,000 for the National MS Society through two events over St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
In its first year, the St. Paddy’s Fiesta Verde attracted more than 400 people and raised $4,500 for MS. The event was paired with the 8th Annual Capitol Market Green Chili Shootout for a weekend celebration of the Irish. The shootout is the largest green chili cook-off in the country and attracted more than 35 cooks from seven states.
“We couldn’t have asked for better support from both the sponsors and the public,” said TMG CEO George Manahan. “We had record crowds at both events and we raised more than $7,000 for the National MS Society.”
Ron Smith, the owner of Chili Willis restaurant in Huntington, took home first place in the shootout and now qualifies to compete in the world championships this fall.
Manahan said the cooperation of several organizations led to the weekend’s success. The sponsors included: Capitol Market, City of Charleston, Generation Charleston, WV Power, National MS Society, and The Manahan Group.
