Charleston, WV -
Yeager Airport is betting on an extra-terrestrial to help boost its business.
The airport has started an advertising campaign featuring an unnamed alien who crash lands in the hills of West Virginia.
The campaign, which includes print ads and television commercials, features the alien choosing Yeager Airport as his option to get back home.
The ads end with the tagline: "Yeager Airport: More destinations than you can imagine."

The Manahan Group, a local public relations agency, is the brain behind the campaign.
George Manahan, the firm's president, said his creative team wanted to show a different style for local commercials.
"We wanted an ad that broke through all the clutter," Manahan said. "We wanted one that people would really remember."
The print ads show the alien becoming a hitchhiker, standing in an open field looking for a ride. He holds up a crude, cardboard sign with the phrase "Take me to your airport" written on it.
The print ads have been running in newspapers and on billboards since October.
The 30-second commercial shows the alien getting picked up by an elderly farmer in his pickup truck. Street signs along the road show the truck heading to Yeager Airport.
The commercials have been airing for a month. They were produced by The Media Center, a local public relations and video production company.
Yeager Director Rick Atkinson said the airport chose the alien concept after viewing the commercial's storyboards.
The campaign was pitched to the airport last summer, Atkinson said.
"Everyone thought it was really different," Atkinson said.
But Atkinson said the ads weren't his first choice for the new campaign.
Another idea pitched by the Manahan Group had a 10-year-old boy tinkering around in a toy workshop.
The boy later emerges from the workshop with a self-made toy airplane. He then throws the toy up in the air and it morphs into an actual airplane and flies away.
"The commercial had a Hallmark type feel," Atkinson said. "I thought it was really cute -- kind of warm and fuzzy. But everyone else said that 15 other commercials have the same theme."
Manahan said the alien perfectly captures Yeager's overall message.
"We wanted to emphasize all of the destinations that they offer," Manahan said. "The alien choosing Yeager Airport stresses the fact that the airport can get you anywhere."
The airport offers 36 daily flights to destinations including Boston, New York, Chicago and Atlanta.
In March, the airport begins operating direct service to Las Vegas through the Southern Skyways air carrier. The fares will be as low as $169 each way.
Southern Skyways provides the airport's Myrtle Beach flights during the spring and summer months.
Manahan said he's hopeful the alien will make appearances in future advertisements.
"I think the ads we have now leave the door open," Manahan said. "We hope the story can continue."
